The RD Hydrojet homepage with the phone number, a Request Service form, licensing badges and same-day emergency service all above the fold

Overview

RD Hydrojet Plumbing, Drain, Heating & Air is a plumbing and drain shop in Southwest Riverside County, California. They serve homeowners and businesses across Murrieta, Temecula, Menifee and the surrounding communities — hydro jetting, drain and sewer work, camera inspections, water heater installation and repair, gas line work, septic service, and heating and air.

Search in this market is crowded, and not mostly with plumbers. The first page for these searches fills up with national directories, regional chains, and every other plumber in the county — across the four captures below, Yelp, Roto-Rooter, Water Heaters Only, Cool Air Solutions, PDS, Gardner Plumbing and Big B’s all hold spots. A local shop that wants the call has to get past all of them on the searches that mean somebody has a problem right now.

The job: build RD a site that wins those searches, and keep feeding it real work so it stays won. This is that plumber SEO case study, with the proof attached.

Our Approach

THE PROBLEM

Three things make this market hard to win.

Directories outrank operators. A Yelp list page titled “TOP 10 BEST Drain Cleaning in Murrieta” competes for the same click as the plumber who would actually show up and do the work.

Coverage beats craft. The chains publish a page for every service in every city they touch. They turn up everywhere on volume alone, whether or not they are the better call for the job.

The searches worth winning are specific. “Drain clean out murrieta ca.” “Hydrojetting in Temecula.” “Water heater Temecula.” A homepage and a services list will not rank for that kind of query. The page has to be about that service, in that city, or it loses to the page that is.

And the results page itself has moved. Google now answers a share of these searches with an AI Overview that sits above the organic results, and some people skip the search engine entirely and ask an assistant like ChatGPT instead. Ranking is no longer only about the ten blue links.

WHAT WE BUILT

I built it in two pieces: an architecture that covers the way people actually search, and an engine that keeps the site producing real content without RD having to write any.

Service and geo page architecture

Every core service got its own page — hydro jetting, drain and sewer, water heater service, gas line work, septic, emergency plumbing, heating and air. Every city in the service area got its own page — Temecula, Murrieta, Menifee, Hemet, Winchester, French Valley, Beaumont, Corona, Fallbrook, Palm Springs. And the service-and-city combinations that carry real search demand got dedicated pages of their own: drain cleaning in Murrieta, drain cleaning in Temecula, drain snaking in Temecula, plumbing services in Murrieta.

That is the structure the specific searches need. When somebody types “drain cleaning murrieta,” there is a page whose entire job is to answer that.

A homepage built to convert

Ranking only pays if the visit turns into a call. The homepage leads with the phone number, a Request Service form sitting in the first screen beside it, the contractor license number, and same-day and emergency availability — the things somebody standing in water actually needs to see. Free estimates and a same-day response are stated on the form itself, not buried on a terms page. That is the screen at the top of this page.

FieldPins: the job-content engine

The harder problem is the one that quietly kills most local SEO programs — nobody keeps writing. A plumbing crew has no time to publish content, so the site goes stale and the rankings drift.

FieldPins solves it from the truck. Job photos come off real work the crew was doing anyway, and FieldPins enriches every one of them with the detail that makes it findable: keywords, a title, a written description of the actual repair, the city, and the GPS coordinates the photo was taken at — embedded in the file itself.

A single FieldPins job photo, inspected: keywords, title, a written description of the repair, city, and latitude and longitude, all embedded in the file. Captured August 4, 2026.

Those enriched jobs publish to a live Recent Completed Jobs page, organized by service type and city, each entry carrying real photo proof of the work and a call CTA.

The output: a live Recent Completed Jobs page, entries tagged by service type and city, each with photo proof and a call CTA. Captured August 4, 2026.

Every completed job becomes another dated entry tied to a real service in a real city — written from work that actually happened. The site gets fed by the business running normally.

The Result

#1–#2 Organic position on target service searches Manual spot checks, August 3–4, 2026

Four kinds of proof, captured August 3–4, 2026. Read them as spot checks rather than as a tracking report: a search result depends on where you are searching from and what Google already knows about you. Date-stamped tracker data is being added to this page as it comes in.

1. Classic organic rankings

Four target searches, first organic result on each capture, across three pages — a service page, a service-and-city page that takes two different queries, and the homepage. On “Water heater Temecula” the position moves between #1 and #2 depending on location and personalization; the third-party check further down shows exactly that.

2. AI visibility

Most case studies stop at the ten blue links. This one doesn’t.

Google’s AI Overview for “drain clean out murrieta ca” answers the question with a list titled “Top-Rated Drain Cleaning Services in Murrieta.” RD Hydrojet is the first name on that list, and the RD site is carried beside it as a cited source card — above the Yelp result in the same panel.

Ask ChatGPT where to get a water heater replaced in Temecula and it recommends RD Hydrojet by name as “a strong local choice,” cites their contractor license and BBB rating, and links straight through to the water heater service page.

Both placements are what a language model produces when the material it finds about a business is specific, consistent and genuinely useful — which is what the page architecture and the job content were built to be. No before-and-after is claimed here; what is shown is what the searches returned on those dates.

3. FieldPins in production

The engine is live and publishing. Every finished job adds another entry to the Recent Completed Jobs page — service type, city, photo proof, CTA. It is the one proof type on this page you can go and watch grow.

4. Third-party verification

FatRank is a neutral rank checker. It isn’t my tool, and it has no idea whose site it’s looking at. On “Water Heater Temecula” it returned position 2 for the RD water heater page, in the same window the screenshot above showed position 1.

I’m publishing both. That gap is normal, and saying so is the honest answer: personalization, location and data-center variance move a result by a position or two. It is also exactly why the number that lives on this page long-term will come from tracked, date-stamped data rather than from a screenshot. Screenshots illustrate. Trackers testify.
