Websites for contractors

Contractor Website Design for Trades and Home‑Service Businesses

Your customers decide who to call in a few seconds on a phone. We build contractor websites that show your best work, list every service you offer and every town you cover, and put the call or quote button one tap away. Designed and built by GSL Design in Yuma, Arizona.

What do you need?

Signs it’s time

Signs your contractor website is costing you jobs

  • It doesn’t look like the quality of your work

Your crews do careful work. If the site looks thrown together, a homeowner assumes the job will be too, and calls the next company on the list.

  • Customers can’t tell what you actually do

All your services sit in one paragraph, so someone looking for a water heater install or a panel upgrade isn’t sure you do it.

  • It never says which towns you cover

A customer two towns over can’t tell if you’ll come to them. A clear service-area list answers that before they have to ask.

  • Calling you takes too many taps

When the phone number is buried or the quote form asks for everything, people give up and call whoever made it easy.

What you get

Built around how customers hire a contractor

People hiring a contractor want three answers fast: do you do this job, do you work in my area, and can I trust you. Every page we plan answers those first. For our full design approach, see custom website design.

Built for the trades

What a contractor site needs that a generic site doesn’t

A generic business site has a home page, an about page and a contact form. A contractor site has to do more, because your customers search by job and by town. These are the four pieces we build into every one.

What a contractor website needs, why it matters and what we build
What the site needsWhy it matters for a contractorWhat we build
A page for every servicePeople search for the job (“drain cleaning”, “roof repair”), not your company name. One page per service gives each job a chance to rank and convert.Service pages written the way customers describe the job, each with its own call button and quote path.
Service-area pagesCustomers want to know you come to them. Google wants proof you work there.Pages for the towns you really serve, built around jobs you’ve done there. No copy-paste city lists.
A job galleryBefore-and-after photos do more selling than any paragraph.A gallery organized by service and area that your office can add to from a phone.
A quote and call pathContractor leads are often urgent. Every extra field or tap loses some of them.Tap-to-call on every screen, a short quote form, and tracking so you know which pages bring calls.

Trades we build for

  • Plumbing: drain, water heater and repipe pages, with emergency calls front and center. For ranking work, see plumbing SEO.

  • HVAC: repair, install and maintenance pages that change emphasis with the season.

  • Electrical: panel upgrades, EV chargers and service calls, each with its own page.

  • Roofing: repair, replacement and inspections, with storm-season calls in mind.

  • Landscaping and outdoor: design-build, maintenance, pools and awnings, sold with photos.

  • Pool service: cleaning, repair and equipment pages, plus the neighborhoods on your route and recurring service plans.

  • Pest control: a page for each pest and each town, plus plan or membership pricing.

  • Masonry, concrete and remodeling: project galleries that show finish and scale.

What happens next

From first message to launch.

  1. 1. Project Brief

After you reach out, we’ll ask a few focused questions about your goals, audience, timeline, budget and what the site needs to do.

  2. 2. Strategy Call

We’ll talk through the project, clarify the best path forward and decide whether Quick Launch, a landing page or a custom business site makes the most sense.

  3. 3. Design & Build

Once the quote is approved, we’ll design and build the site with clear progress updates and review points along the way.

  4. 4. Launch & Support

After approval, the site goes live. We’ll help with launch details, tracking, performance and support after handoff, as agreed in your scope.

Custom builds: typically 4–6 weeks.

Larger websites and ecommerce builds typically take 6–8 weeks. Your project timeline is confirmed with the scope.

Quick Launch: 3–5 business days of production.

Production starts once complete materials and the deposit are received. Client review and payment delays extend delivery.

Need to be online this week? Quick Launch gets a contractor site live in 3–5 business days with one of four finished designs.

Process

How a contractor website project works. Four clear steps.

You have one point of contact from the first call to launch, and you always know what happens next.

  1. 01

    Strategy call

We talk through your trade, the jobs you want more of, the towns you cover and how leads reach you today. You get a fixed-price proposal.

  2. 02

    Services, areas & wireframes

We list every service and service area with you, gather job photos, then write the pages and plan the layout before design starts.

  3. 03

    Design & development

You approve the design for your key pages, then we build on WordPress with your call buttons, forms and tracking in place.

  4. 04

    Launch & handoff

We test every page, form and phone link on real phones, launch, and show your office how to add jobs and photos. Prefer us to handle updates? Add a care plan.

Most contractor sites take 4–6 weeks. Larger sites with many service areas take 6–8.

Contractor website questions

Contractor website design mistakes that kill your leadsHow contractors should list services on their websiteElectrician website design

How much does a contractor website cost?

It depends on how many services and service areas you need pages for, and how much writing we do. The price box above shows our packages, and every project gets a fixed-price proposal first.

Do you build websites for my trade?

Probably. We’ve built sites for plumbing, pest control, masonry, awning and pool companies and a truck and off-road shop, and the same structure works for HVAC, electrical, roofing and landscaping.

Should I have a separate page for each service?

Yes, for the services you want more of. Someone searching for “water heater replacement” wants a page about exactly that. One page per service also gives Google a clear page to rank.

Should I have a page for every town I serve?

Only for towns where you really work and can say something specific, like jobs you’ve done there. Thin pages that swap the town name get ignored by customers and by Google.

Can I add job photos myself?

Yes. The gallery is easy to update from your phone. If you’d rather have finished jobs turn into website content automatically, ask about FieldPins.

Do you handle SEO too?

Every site launches with SEO foundations. Ranking above competitors in your area is ongoing monthly work, which is our contractor SEO service. HVAC companies can read why HVAC websites need SEO.

Should I start with Quick Launch or a custom site?

Quick Launch suits a new or small operation that needs a professional site fast. A custom build suits a company with several services, several towns and a gallery worth showing off.

Can you rebuild my current contractor website?

Yes. We review what’s bringing in calls now, keep it, and rebuild the rest without losing the rankings you’ve earned. See website redesign.
