Bug Out Pest Control

A Yuma pest control company was running a website whose SEO was written for Phoenix. We rebuilt it around Yuma County, one service and one town at a time.

The project and market

Bug Out Pest Control is a locally owned pest control company in Yuma, Arizona. Adrian Garcia started it in 2016. It treats scorpions, termites, ants, roaches, spiders and rodents for homes and businesses across Yuma County, and it offers Desert Defense membership plans for year-round protection.

Yuma is its own market. It sits 180 miles from Phoenix, has its own pests, its own towns and its own search results. A Yuma homeowner with a scorpion in the bathtub searches “pest control Yuma,” and Google answers with companies it believes are in Yuma.

The challenge

Bug Out came to us with a website built on a template that had been dropped into Yuma from somewhere else.

Our first audit found the problem in the markup. The homepage title, the line Google shows in search results and weighs heavily, read “Pest Control Phoenix Valley, AZ.” The meta description called Bug Out “the premier pest and termite control authority for Maricopa County.” The service pages followed the same pattern, and the commercial page promised service to “Phoenix County,” a county that doesn’t exist.

Yuma did appear on the old site, but as a co-star: “Yuma & Phoenix Valley” in the headings, “Maricopa, Pinal, & Yuma County” in the subheads. The site was asking Google to rank a Yuma company in Phoenix, a market it doesn’t serve, and splitting its local signal in the one market it does. It even had the company’s history wrong: “Since 2008,” eight years before Adrian opened Bug Out.

The structure had the same gap. Nine pages in total. One “pest library” page covered every pest, and one “where we service” page covered every town. There was no page that could rank for “scorpion control Yuma” or “pest control Somerton,” because no such page existed.

Strategy and implementation

Yuma first, in every signal

We rewrote every title, meta description, heading and schema field around Yuma County. The new site doesn’t mention Phoenix, Maricopa or Pinal anywhere. 24 of its 27 page titles name Yuma or a Yuma County town, and every page carries PestControl business schema, tied to one business entity with its Yuma address and service area.

One page per town

Customers in Somerton, San Luis or Wellton want to know a company actually comes to them. We built a service area hub and eight town pages: Yuma, the Foothills, Somerton, San Luis, Wellton, Tacna, Roll and Dateland. Each covers the town’s own conditions and links to the services people there ask for most.

A page for every pest

The old pest library became 11 service pages, each built for a search people actually run: scorpion control, termite control, ants, roaches, spiders, rodents, bees and wasps, general pest control, commercial, WDIR termite reports and realtor inspections. Service pages carry their own Service schema scoped to the Yuma County area, their own FAQs and their own estimate form.

Built for the phone call

Pest control is a phone-first business. The number stays in the header, the call button follows the visitor on mobile, and the Desert Defense plans are priced side by side so customers can choose before they call.

Results

This site launched in October 2026. At launch we recorded Bug Out’s starting point: Google Search Console data and a map-ranking grid across Yuma for “pest control Yuma,” “exterminator Yuma” and their core services. We’ll add what changed at 90 days: map visibility, the searches bringing in customers, calls and form leads.

Launch case study. No ranking, traffic or lead results are claimed yet.
